We’re delighted that our flagship on-road training course for business drivers, Driving for Work, has been granted ‘Recognised’ status by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).
The DVSA, which is part of the Department for Transport, has brought in a standard of accreditation for road safety products, granting IAM RoadSmart ‘Recognised’ status for high-quality delivery of our Driving for Work course.
Driving for Work is IAM RoadSmart’s flagship on-road training course for people who drive as part of their job. The course is tailored to the needs of individual drivers – ensuring that all participants gain the maximum possible benefit, helping to make them safer, more confident, happier drivers.
In the UK, around one in every four road deaths involves someone travelling on a business journey, making driving the highest-risk activity for employees across all industries. Not only are vehicle collisions a serious threat to personal safety, they are also among the largest contributors to unforeseen costs for businesses, with company drivers racking up an estimated 1.8 million penalties in a year.
Richard Gladman, Head of Driving and Riding Standards at IAM RoadSmart, said “We work closely with the DVSA to ensure that there is a consistent standard across all elements of driver training. It’s a real feather in our cap that our flagship commercial course has been recognised by the DVSA in this way.”
The DVSA is responsible for carrying out driving tests, approving people to be driving instructors and MOT testers, ensuring lorries and buses are safe to drive, and conducting roadside checks on drivers and vehicles.
Driving for Work aims to reduce collisions, improve road safety, and help drivers reduce fuel costs by driving more efficiently.
