FREE Webinar: Get started on managing work-related driver risk

By 16th September 2024No Comments

Driving is the single most hazardous activity that most UK workers will undertake in the course of their work, accounting for more work-related fatalities each year than all other causes combined. Even so, many employers do not subject driving to the same risk management processes that they apply to other workplace hazards, often due to a lack of clear policies or ownership, poor understanding of the legal implications, or a misunderstanding of what’s involved.

If you have a responsibility for business health and safety or fleet management, or are new to managing employees who drive for work, by popular demand we will be rerunning this free webinar, at 2pm on Tuesday 24 September designed to give you some useful tips to get you started on managing driver risk in a way that fits your business, including:

  • What is ‘driving for work’?
  • Reasons to focus on driver safety
  • What to think about when creating a road safety policy
  • Handy tools and resources for safer business motoring
Risks and responsibilities of driving for work - managers workshop

Meet our presenter

Rebecca Ashton, former Head of Policy and Research at IAM RoadSmart, now works as an external consultant alongside our training course development team. Rebecca has many years of experience in work-related road safety, herself a former ADI and fleet trainer.

With the higher levels of road risk faced by people who drive for work, helping employers to tackle driver risk is one of the most important things IAM RoadSmart can do to support safety on our roads. Many businesses know they have a responsibility to manage driver risk but aren’t sure where to start. It doesn’t have to be difficult, and there are benefits not just for employee safety but also for the general public, and fringe benefits for companies. Everyone has a part they can play, and I look forward to sharing some insights that can help get you started on making some practical steps.
